I have also been thinking about using a sort of 1950's satire theme to put alongside the trotters and tongues. Giving it a bit more humour - which I like and think will work.
After researching more and talking through my ideas, I've changed tact a bit and started looking at offal. Cheapest part of meat and least consumed, so with money not falling out of most peoples pockets at the moment, I think is a more accessible and also interesting idea. It is more specific than my previous concept, and I think has a lot more playfulness than comes with it.
I decided to dissect the way in which different types of cookery book use text and image, so I have laid out in blocks to give me a better idea of how things might work together on the page.
Above are few artists/designers work I have been looking at for inspiration, and to give me a bit more background on design and layout.
Our brief is to create anything we want and publish it. I have decided to look into making a cookery book it is something that I like doing in my spare time, and also is part of how I have been brought up. My mother is french so a big part of my childhood especially in the summer would be spent in france at my grandparents house, helping cook and preparing the food. I would get to pick out baby rabbits and then fatten them up ready for something tasty. Other big thing I had drummed into me is not to waste food. This initial idea I am looking at designing a book that with a low budget feeds you for every day of the week, whilst wasting nothing.
